Hazardous Materials response is integrated with the
Northwest Area Strike Team (NAS-T) which spreads the cost over fifteen communities. NAS-T provides specialized skills while Grandview Heights Fire provides fire-fighting foam to suppress flammable liquid fires and suppress toxic vapors. Foam and specialized response equipment is carried on Haz-Mat 51.
All members of the Division of Fire are trained as Hazardous Materials-Technicians, and specialize in all aspects of foam application. Grandview Heights has industries with hazardous substances close to residential areas. Hazardous materials are also transported through the community by highway and rail.
