Overview
Grandview Heights Police Patch
The Grandview Police has one full-time detective and two part-time detectives. Officer's may serve in:
  • Field Training Officer positions
  • D.A.R.E. 
  • School Resource Officer
  • Crash Investigation
  • Community Police Officer
  • Datamaster Calibration Officer
  • Bike patrol

Patrol / Availabilty
Officers work eight-hour shifts, five days a week, that are staggered in order to maintain 24-hour coverage of the streets. Officers bid on their shift every six months based on seniority. There is currently no reserve officer program.

Officers regularly receive additional updated training from the Ohio Police Officers Training Academy. Most officers are issued a Smith & Wesson Model 4506, which is a 45-caliber, semi-automatic pistol. A few officers have elected to keep their previously issued revolvers.

Becoming an Officer

If you are interested in becoming a Grandview Heights Police Officer, look for our advertisement in the employment section of the Columbus Dispatch Newspaper.

Candidates must have at least two years of college education. Upon hire, recruits will be sent to the Ohio State Patrol Basic Peace Officer Academy, which is a live-in academy that takes about three months to complete.
